AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 AND SECTION 5 OF ORDINANCE NO. 2000-094, ENTITLED: “AN ORDINANCE GIVING HONOR AND TRIBUTE TO THE NAGUEÑO WORLD WAR II VETERANS BY MANDATING THE RAISING OF THE PHILIPPINE FLAG AT  HALF MAST AT THE CITY HALL AND OTHER CITY GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS DURING THE WAKE OF A DECEASED MEMBER THEREOF, GRANTING HIS FAMILY THE AMOUNT OF TEN THOUSAND PESOS AS BURIAL ASSISTANCE, AND DECLARING APRIL 8 OF EVERY YEAR AS NAGA CITY WAR VETERANS’ DAY”, BY SPECIFYING THAT THE VETERANS HEREIN REFERRED TO ARE WORLD WAR II AND KOREAN WAR VETERANS, AND BY INCREASING THE BURIAL ASSISTANCE FROM TEN THOUSAND (P10,000.00) TO FIFTEEN THOUSAND (P15,000.00) PESOS:-

Be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Naga, that:

SECTION 1. Section 2 and Section 5 of Ordinance No. Ordinance No. 2000-094, entitled: “An ordinance giving honor and tribute to the Nagueño World War II Veterans by mandating the raising of the Philippine Flag at Half Mast at the City Hall and other City Government buildings during the wake of a deceased member thereof, granting his family the amount of Ten Thousand Pesos as burial assistance, and declaring April 8 of every year as Naga City War Veterans’ Day”, are hereby amended, now to read as follows:

SECTION 2. – Purpose – the purpose of this Ordinance is to honor and give tribute to the Nagueño World War II and Korean War Veterans in recognition of the heroism and sacrifice they have so unselfishly offered for the g\freedom, sovereignty, and glory of our nation.

SECTION 5. – As expression of the City’s gratitude to the World War II and Korean War veterans of Naga City, it is hereby granted the amount of Fifteen Thousand (P15,000.00) Pesos as burial assistance to assist the family of a deceased Naga City World War II and Korean War veteran afford a decent burial to these war heroes.  This amount shall be immediately paid by the City Treasurer’s Office to the family of the deceased Nagueño World War II and Korean War veteran upon presentation of the Death Certificate and the certifications required under Section 3 of this ordinance, and provided that entitled to claims  are those names appearing in the list of veterans and those whose names not in the subject list but their names appear in the new list that shall be submitted by the veterans organization and approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod;

SECTION 2. – This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
