AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 889, S. 19983, WHICH AMENDED ORDINANCE NO. 771, S. 1981 BY INCREASING THE CASH ASSISTANCE UNDER THE DEATH AND HOSPITALIZATION BENEFITS PROGRAM FOR RECOGNIZED AND DULY AUTHORIZED BARANGAY TANODS IN THE 27 BARANGAYS OF THE CITY OF NAGA: -

Be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Naga, that:

SECTION 1. – Certain sections of Ordinance No. 889, S. 1983 which amended Ordinance No. 771, S. 1981 are hereby amended by increasing the cash assistance under the Death and Hospitalization Benefits program for recognized and duly authorized barangay tanods in the 27 barangays of the City of Naga, now to read as follows:

“SECTION 1, Sub-Section 2 – In case of death occurring within 48 hour after duty due to high blood or heart failure and/or death while in the performance of official duties or by reason thereof, cash assistance of Four Thousand (P4, 000.00) Pesos, provided the following supporting papers are submitted:

a) Death Certificate

b) Certificate that deceased member died by reason above stated, duly signed by Barangay Tanod Executive officer, Barangay Captain and Police investigation Officer.

c) Certificate that deceased member was a bona fide Barangay Tanod member duly signed by the DILG Local Government Operations Officer.

“SECTION 1, Sub-Section 3 – In case of death occurring out of any illness or disease or death by natural causes, cash assistance of P2,500.00, provided the following supporting papers are submitted:

a) Death Certificate

b) Certificate that deceased Tanod members was a bona fide member of the Tanod Brigade, duly signed by the Barangay Tanod Executive Office, Barangay Captain, and the DILG Local Government Operations officer, PROVIDED, however, that the death occurs not more than six (6) months from the last hour of duty of the deceased as an active Tanod member.

“SECTION 1, Sub-Section 4 – In case of accident and/or injury while in the performance of duty needing hospitalization expenses and for in capacity for labor, as follows:

a) For Slight physical injuries – P30.00 per day but not more than 15 days as cash assistance or a total sum not exceeding P450.00;

b) For less Serious Physical Injuries – P30.00 per day but not more than 30 days as cash assistance or a total sum not exceeding P900.00;

c) For Serious Physical Injuries – P30.00 per day but not more than 60 days as cash assistance or a total sum not exceeding P1,800.00;

“SECTION 1, Sub-Section 5 – In case of hospitalization due to any illness or disease – a cash assistance of P30.00 per day for medical and hospitalization expenses and incapacity for labor or a total sum not exceeding P900.00.

PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that in cases of injury and hospitalization above-stated in Sub-Section 4 and 5, Section 1, the following supporting papers are submitted:

a) Medical Certification of the extent of injury/sickness and the number of days of incapacity for labor signed by the government doctor or his authorized representative;

b) Certification of actual record of hospitalization duly signed by the hospital doctor/director or attending physician;

c) Certification that the Tanod member is a bona fide active member of the Barangay Tanod Brigade signed by the DILG Local Government Operations Officer;

d) Certifications that the Tanod Member got his injury/sickness while in the performance of his official duties or by reason thereof duly signed by the Barangay Tanod Executive Officer and the Barangay Captain.

SECTION 2. – This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval but shall not apply to death, injuries or illness occurring prior to the enactment of this ordinance.
