Puregold opens Naga, Legazpi branches
The country’s No. 1 retailer in the Hypermat format is opening its branch here in the city after the thanksgiving mass at 9:00 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 24, with City Mayor John G. Bongat, other city officials, and members of the local business community as guests.
The hypermart, located at the ALDP Building along Roxas Avenue (Diversion Road), will be among the 86 Puregold stores nationwide.
The advent of one-stop shopping convenience began in 1998 when Puregold opened its first branch along Shaw Blvd. in Mandaluyong City. The store offered a wide array of goods from groceries, apparel, household accessories and furniture at very affordable prices. During that time, the one-stop shopping philosophy was still a novel idea to consumers but with the excellent service and quality products it provided, it did not take long for Puregold to make its mark in the retail industry. Today, it has grown into a giant retail chain with over 600 million sales transactions and more than 17,899 sales clerks and employees nationwide.
On Wednesday, Puregold opened its branch at the Embarcadero de Legazpi in Albay.
Anna Barrozo, Puregold advertising and communication manager, told Bicol Mail that the branch in Legazpi City is so far the farthest from Metro Manila.
“Bicol is a very competitive market that’s why three outlets have been planned to be put up in Legazpi, Naga City, and Sorsogon, the latter to be opened next year,” she said.
