After launching last week a donation drive with the hashtag #TabangMayon2018— a Naga City humanitarian mission in Albay aiming to help the evacuees in several cities and municipalities in the said province who were forced to leave home for safety reasons with the Mayon Volcano magmatic eruption, the Tabang Mayon team, led by Mayor John Bongat, went to Camalig, Guinobatan and Ligao City, Tuesday, January 23, to conduct the relief operation.

The team, composite of the heads and representative personnel from City Government of Naga, the Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), the Metro Naga Water District (MNWD), the Naga City Urban Poor Federation, the Naga City Hall Press Corps, and others, went to the sites early morning delivering three truckloads of relief goods (hygiene kit supplies and food items)— toothbrushes, toothpastes, sanitary napkins, body soaps, diapers, face towels, canned goods, rice, noodles and bottled water— for the evacuees.

The city and municipal mayors, with other local government officials, gratefully welcomed the team in their localities.

The team visited the evacuation centers, among which are the Comun Elementary School in Camalig, Albay, the Mauraro High School in Guinobatan, Albay, and that of Ligao City, wherein more than six thousand families altogether are temporarily housed meantime the volcanic activities are still being observed by PHIVOLCS.

Heavy volcanic ashes are still observed in the affected areas in Albay, with a 9- km radius around the volcano declared as danger zone.

In his facebook post, Mayor John Bongat gave thanks to all who supported and had their part in the conducted mission, while urging all others to keep on praying for the safety of the Albayanos.
