Caceres marks Peñafrancia de Mayo

The Peñafrancia de Mayo has been solemnly celebrated from May 22, 2012 (Tuesday) to May 25, 2012 (Friday). Devotees of Our Lady of Peñafrancia (Ina) joined the procession from the Basilica Minore de Peñafrancia to the Naga City People’s Mall (City Market) that started the week-long festivities. Held at six o’clock in the evening, a solemn eucharistic celebration succeeded the procession.

During Ina’s stay at the Chapel of the People’s Mall, a Triduum Mass was held in her honor, a vigil was observed on the first night and confessions for those who will be confirmed and validated for marriage were held on the second and third day, respectively. The Sacrament of Confirmation was observed during the second day of the Triduum Mass while the Marriage Validation was done within the mass celebrated on the last day of Ina’s stay at the People’s Mall. In addition, the Sacrament of Baptism was also observed.

A fluvial procession via the Naga City River was held from the People’s Mall back to the Basilica last May 25, capping the festivities for the Peñafrancia de Mayo. Upon her return, a solemn eucharistic celebration at eight o’clock in the evening was officiated by Rev. Msgr. Rodel Cajot, P.C., Rector of the Basilica Minore de Peñafrancia.
