3 honest Nagueños commended

By: Armie B. Gunay

There is no shortage of honest people in this city. On the contrary, there are more of them who turned out to be simple, ordinary people.

First, it was an owner of a pili nut store who came to the office of the city mayor to return cash kept in a white envelope amounting to P11, 000.00 that a visiting devotee of Our Lady of Peñafrancia from Laguna absent-mindedly left in his store after purchasing pili nut delicacies from his store a few days after the fiesta.

Then, another two honest Nagueños also came to return what they have found which could have been dismissed as lost forever had they gone into the wrong hands of less God- fearing people.

During the flag ceremony last Monday at city hall, three honest Nagueños were accordingly honored for their honesty. They were Archel Arroyo, Christom Baguio, and Jocel de la Trinidad, all of this city.

Arroyo is the owner of the pili nut store at Naga City People’s Mall. He found the white envelope stacked with money with a name written on it that made it easier for him to contact a certain Roy de Mesa who turned out to be the owner of the lost envelope.

MR. ARCHEL ARROYO turns over to the City Mayor's Office the money he found left in his store by a pilgrim- tourist.

Baguio is an employee of the City Government’s PSO Civil Security Unit. He returned a wallet containing the amount of P25, 000.00 cash and a checkbook bearing the name of Antonia delos Reyes.

MR. CHRISTOM BAGUIO from the PSO Civil Security Unit receives commendation from the City Government of Naga for his honest act.

De La Trinidad is a tricycle driver from Barangay Mabolo. He returned a mobile phone left in his tricycle back to its owner.

Trinidad patiently waited for mobile phone owner at the same spot where he dropped off his last passenger who soon came out looking for his missing mobile phone.

MR. JOCEL DE LA TRINIDAD also receives a commendation from the City Government of Naga for being an honest tricycle driver.

Mayor John G. Bongat and other city officials, before the employees and guests at city hall during last Monday’s flag ceremony, congratulated and handed certificates of recognition to the three honest Nagueños that their fellow Nagueños should emulate and be proud of.
