Naga City Homeowners Board: A Sounding Board for Homeowners’ Concerns

By Mon Baturiano, Jr.

In response to the clamor of the growing and yet unrepresented homeowners’ sector in Naga City to address its pressing and unique concerns, Mayor John G. Bongat last August 22, 2011 initiated the organization of the Naga City Homeowners Board  whose members are composed of various representatives from the city’s subdivisions.

In attendance at the meeting held at the Senior Citizens Building inside the Naga City Hall compound were the presidents and officers of DECA Homes Northfield, Monterey Village, Parkview Village, San Alfonso Village, San Francisco Village, Aeroville, among others.

For one, Mr. Joson, president of DECA Homes Northfield expressed joy over this  overture of full support from the City Mayor and conveyed his subdivision’s willingness to cooperate with the various activities of the city geared towards volunteerism and active community-building. He lamented as well the lack of a garbage disposal mechanism in front of their subdivision which is under the territorial jurisdiction of Canaman, Camarines Sur.

Mayor Bongat reiterated the city’s full commitment and support to the homeowners’ activities more particularly on public safety, health and cleanliness and enjoined all to participate in the city’s Happy Go Linig Program to assure everyone of a clean, hygienic and healthy living.

Complementing the clean and green program is the planned conduct of the First Mayor JGB Inter-Subdivision Homeowners Greening Olympics with the aim of promoting livability, environmental harmony and greater involvement in community-building initiatives among homeowners.

The Lingkod Barangay Office headed by Ruel Ojeda Barrios will undertake the organizational development and other concerns of the new city board while Mr. Mon Baturiano, Jr. will act as the Board’s Program Coordinator.
