East Highland Tourism Zone
Land area: 1,026 hectares
Located at the foot of Mt. Isarog, this area is ideal for tourism-related activities and development. It is only a 15 to 20-minute drive away from the city proper.
The East Highland Zone covers barangays Pacol, Carolina, and Panicuason. It is characterized by relatively cooler weather and abundant water resources.
Several mountain resorts already operate within the area.
Mt. Isarog boasts of the biggest remaining rain forest in Southern Luzon, several waterfalls, and freshwater and hot springs. It is frequented by adventure sports enthusiasts. Much of real estate development in the city currently happens within East Highland or in areas leading to the zone. Naga’s universities are locating some of their facilities in the area. The Ateneo de Naga University relocated its high school department in 2003.
The Metro Naga Sports Complex, the site of the 1997 and 2002 Palarong Pambansa
(national scholastic games) is located in the zone.
Road networks linking the area to the Naga City Agro-Industrial Zone and other towns in Metro Naga have already been completed.
