PWDs push for establishment of vocational rehab centers in Bicol

NAGA CITY — The Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) here is forging partnership with the office of Congressman Gabriel H. Bordado (3rd District, Camarines Sur) in order to expedite the establishment of a vocational rehabilitation center in his district.

The center, which will cater to children who have finished attending the Department of Education’s Special Education (SPED) program, will serve as facility for young PWDs to develop their skills and enable them to land a job and live productively despite their handicaps.

In this city, a similar entity, specifically called vocational training center, has already been established thru the efforts made by the administration of Mayor John G. Bongat. Close to a hundred young PWD individuals in the city have become beneficiaries of the project.

August 18 is Jesse Robredo day

SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAY IN NAGA

NAGA CITY — By virtue of Proclamation No. 37 by the President of the Philippines, August 18 has been declared a special non-working day throughout this city.

In commemoration of the death anniversary of Jesse M. Robredo, the proclamation was signed by authority of President by Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea last August 9, 2016.

Robredo served as the mayor of Naga City from 1988 to 1998 and from 2001 to 2010, with utmost dedication and exemplary performance, earning for him various awards, both national and international.

NAGA CITY — The City government of Naga took pride with the achievement of Dr. Marimil Sahagun Bombase who had been awarded as the Most Outstanding Physician by the Philippine Medical Association (PMA).

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Naga recognized the exemplary works of Dr. Bombase through Resolution No. 2016-220, congratulating and commending her performance. The resolution was sponsored by City Councilors Cecilia V. De Asis, Elmer S. Baldemoro and Ray-An Cydrick G. Rentoy.

Aside from the Most Outstanding Physician Award conferred on her by PMA during the 109th PMA Annual Convention held in Cebu City on May 20, 2016, she was recognized as the Most Outstanding Bicolano Physician in private practice for the year 2015-2016 by the PMA- Bicol Regional Council held in Legazpi City on April 16, 2016.
