Naga to host national conferences for nurses, plumbers

AT LEAST two big events have been calendared to unfold in this city in the last two months of the year, with guests and participants coming from other parts of the country.

To take place on November 28-30 at Villa Caceres Hotel here will be the 10th National Nursing Research Conference with the theme, “Advancing Quality in Research and Nursing Towards Healthy and Sustainable Communities.”

On December 8-9, on the other hand, will be the 10th Luzon Regional Conference and Trade Exhibits of the Philippine Society of Plumbing Engineers (PSPE), Inc., also to be held at Villa Caceres Hotel with the theme, “Plumbing Engineers: Moving Towards ASEAN Professional Integration.”

Dean Delia B. Oco, Ph.D., of the Ateneo de Naga University College of Nursing said the Nursing Conference is being spearheaded by the Philippine Nursing Research Society (PNRSI). It is to be participated in by nurse leaders, educators, researchers, practitioners, students, and other professional nurses from the region and various parts of the country who are aiming to advance nursing theory and practice by keeping pace with the new developments and information through scholarly exchange of evidence-based nursing knowledge.

Statisticians open today nat’l conference in Naga

NAGA CITY — The Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. will be opening at the Avenue Plaza Hotel today its 2-day annual conference with a day earlier (Wednesday) allotted for two short training courses on communications statistics through information graphics and statistical methods for project monitoring and evaluation in the same venue.

Since 1952, the PSAI, a non-stock, non-profit professional organization, has been conducting annual conferences to discuss issues that need to be addressed by the statistics community and stakeholders of statics.

PSAI President Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, said this year’s gathering will focus on the role of Statistics in monitoring social protection. He explained that the conference will provide a forum for statisticians, producers, and users of statistics to participate in discussions that will bring about the essentiality of statistics monitoring programs on social protection.
