Viewing exhibits at the Bicol Science and Technology Centrum

ABOUT THE SERVICES

The BSTC is a joint undertaking of the city government of Naga and the Department of Science and Technology with the Primary objective of enhancing science consciousness and literacy of the Bicolanos through non-formal science education in an interactive learning environment characterized by fun, adventure, creativity and self-discovery.

It aims to promote non-formal science and technology education through the conduct of various science programs and activities and the hands-on and kinetic manipulation of science interactive exhibits demonstrating various science principles. Clients may visit the Centrum and explore the following galleries:

  • MAIN GALLERY – with an assortment of interactive exhibits demonstrating various science concepts and principles from the different areas/branches of science.
  • SCI-ART CUBBYHOLE – play area that caters to kids 7 years old and below. A collection of interactive toys (Little Tikes and LEGO building blocks) that helps in the psychomotor development of children
  • GALLERY ON LIGHTS, COLORS AND SHAPES – an existing exhibition on the interplay of light and various colors and shapes. One of the favorite galleries of both the young and the old.
  • ASTROMONOMY GALLERY – a virtual space travel adventure. The gallery showcases a number of solar system models, orbiters, scale model of space crafts, murals, EX3 mobile planetarium system, seven astronomical binoculars and two MEADE computerized telescopes.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL GALLERY – a gallery that functionally showcase the Naga River, its marine life and aquatic resources, explicating measures to protect and preserve its ecosystem. Consist of a miniature river, a large aquarium and digital animated presentation titled “Lola Pia”..
  • OPTICAL ILLUSION GALLERY – a collection of framed puzzles, abstract shapes and drawings that keep you from seeing what’s there – or make you see something that isn’t there at all!

Skywatch Gallery

BSTC also has a SKYWATCH GALLERY, which features telescopes for stargazing, and an EX-3 Mobile PLANETARIUM System. The planetarium is a simulation of the night sky especially our solar system and a number of constellations found in our Milky Way Galaxy. The use of this gallery, however, is only available upon request.

PLEASE APPROACH

1. Individual Use of Galleries by walk in visitor

Register at the Information Desk and pay the corresponding entrance fee. (AAII issues official receipt)

You may request for an orientation or guided tour. Guided tours however are discouraged since all exhibit are meant to be interactive and self-discovery.
